Set Description and Contents:

Although Cassatt was accepted in Paris as an accomplished member of the Impressionists, her work was not fully appreciated in the United States until after her death. She did, however, send works home to be exhibited in the United States starting in the early 1870s. They were the first Impressionist works ever seen in the United States. She also encouraged the establishment of museums in the United States to house great works of art, something that had not been done on a large scale at the time.
