DIGITAL IMAGE SET: Kandinsky Prints from Klänge and Kleine Welten (TIFF)

(new acquisitions 2010)

31 images from two print series by Kandinsky: Klänge (Sounds) and Kleine Welten (Small Worlds). Created between 1911 and 1912 during his involvement with Der Blaue Reiter, Klänge combines poetry and abstract imagery to show the relationship between the effects of sound and visuals. Kleine Welten was created while at Bauhaus, completely abstract and favoring geometric shapes. Here, again, Kandinsky demonstrates the similarities between color, shape, and sound.
