Texas Shield
Moroles' work belongs to the constructivist tradition of sculpture. In his emphasis on the beauty of the natural stone and on the contrasts in surface finish, Moroles work is comparable to the stone sculptures of Lipchitz (1891-1973) and the wooden sculptures of Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975). Although highlighting the inherent qualities of the stone, Moroles cuts it to a thinness and gracefulness that belies its mass.
