Nancy Walkup has taught art to students from kindergarten to college in Louisiana and Texas. Prior to becoming editor for SchoolArts magazine, she was a project coordinator for ten years with the North Texas Institute for Educators in the Visual Arts (NTIEVA), an art education institute at the University of North Texas.
A longtime member of the National Art Education Association (NAEA), Nancy served as the national program coordinator for NAEA’s convention held in March 2001 in New York City. She was named Texas Art Educator of the Year in 2001, Louisiana Art Educator of the Year in 1991, and TAEA Elementary Art Educator for 2010. She was recently elected NAEA Elementary Director Elect. She is a contributing author for Davis Publications’s elementary art textbook series, Explorations in Art, and an author of many other publications. She has given numerous presentations at NAEA and state conferences.
