Author Emily Jean Hood

Emily Jean Hood is an artist, teacher, and researcher with a background working with K–12, undergraduate, and graduate students in art education. She is currently assistant professor of art education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has published articles in Art Education, Studies in Art Education, and the International Journal of Education and the Arts.

Dr. Hood is co-author of The Visual Experience, published by Davis Publications. She is also the co-editor of a book titled Pedagogies in the Flesh: Cases Studies on Embodiment of Sociocultural Difference in Education.

In 2009 Dr. Hood was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award at Forest Meadow Junior High in Richardson, TX. As an art educator, she is invested in the relational nature of art and artmaking and working to make this pedagogical tool available to all students.
