About the Author

Kathleen Monaghan

Kathleen Monaghan is an educator, artist, and author. She taught art from kindergarten through twelfth grade in private and public schools for 14 years. She has also taught textiles to college students and adults for more than 30 years, including teaching weaving at Multnomah Art Center in Portland, OR. She earned her MA in Curriculum Development and Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley College and has a BA in Education from Eastern Washington University. In addition to her experience as an educator, she is the director of marketing and communications for Pendleton Woolen Mills, a textile company in Portland, OR. Monaghan is the author of You Can Weave: Projects for Young Weavers (Davis Publications, 2000), an introduction to the weaving process for elementary educators. Along with Hermon Joyner, she is the co-author of Focus on Photography (first edition 2007, second edition 2016), a high school program for learning commercial and fine art photography.
