Engaging with Public Art

Coming Soon

As part of the NEW Engaging with Art series, Engaging with Public Art is designed to help students and their teachers explore contemporary artists and their work. Each set in the series is focused on an art practice that reflects ways in which artists of today work.

Displayed in public places, buildings, streets, and publicly viewed surfaces, the art form recognized as street art has become a worldwide phenomenon. The work often makes a personal or societal statement about how the artist feels about a worldly issue or personal experience. This form of bringing messages to the public has proven to be both impactful and beautiful. The underlying themes in this set include inspiration, empowerment, culture, and integrity.

Engaging with Public Art will be available as a card and poster set.

Card Set includes:

  • 20 cards featuring a contemporary artist and an example of their artwork.
  • Background information about the artist and the artwork.
  • Prompts for discussing and exploring the work.
  • Guide with teaching information to help students look closely at and reflect on the art and meaning.

Poster Set includes:

  • Additional artworks by fifteen of the artists in the card set.
  • Background information about the artist and the artwork.
  • Guide with teaching information connecting the art to the element or principle in the artwork.

These sets are designed for students to not only respond to art but engage in meaningful group discussions about what they see as they analyze and interpret the artwork.
