Episode 205: AI & the Art of Critical Thinking
AI has become a hot-button issue, particularly in relation to educational settings. Should it be allowed? Is it helpful to the learning process? To dig into this topic, The Creativity Department invited Dr. Paul Fishwick to join them for a conversation. Dr. Fishwick is a Distinguished Chair Emeritus in Art, Humanities, and Technology at UT Dallas (UTD). In his career, he pioneered the area of aesthetic computing, bringing together elements of art, modeling, simulation, and engineering with the goal of exploring new representational approaches. He joins Laura and Matt to share his own experiences using AI in the classroom. Explore the benefits and drawbacks and discover how AI helped infuse deeper critical thinking into Dr. Fishwick’s work. Learn how art educators can do the same in their own classrooms.
