Write a K-12 Article for SchoolArts Magazine

Topic Ideas: successful lessons for any grade from PreK to grade 12; areas of concern or interest; teaching approaches

Word Count: 800 words or less

Tip: Use a conversational style when writing. How would you express your idea to a fellow educator?

Submission Checklist:

  • Your article as a Word document (preferred) or PDF
  • 4 or more high-quality digital images of final artworks and/or process photos.
  • Captions for each photo (student’s name, grade level, title, description)
  • Helpful resources—videos, websites, publications, handouts, templates, etc.
  • Signed student permission forms

Write a K-12 Art Lesson ClipCard

ClipCard

A one-day or shorter lesson broken into simple steps for any grade level.

Word Count: 250 words or less

Tip: Think of a ClipCard as a quick activity for substitute teachers or the end of the school year.

Submission Checklist:

  • Grade level of your lesson
  • Essential question(s)
  • Objective(s)
  • Materials list
  • Procedure, include 4–6 steps
  • Resources or extensions for enhancing the lesson
  • Brief assessment or reflection activity for students
  • 1 or more high-quality digital images of final artworks and/or process photos
  • Captions for each photo (student’s name, grade level)
  • Signed student permission form(s)

Where can I download the student permission form? Download the form at SchoolArts.com/PermissionForm. If you cannot get physical signatures, we can work with you to send out digital permission forms. Please email us at ContactUs@SchoolArts.com.

When can I expect a response on my submission? You should expect a response on whether your submission was accepted within six months.

When will my article or ClipCard be published? Accepted articles and ClipCards are usually published within 24 months.

Can I use AI tools or technology to write material for SchoolArts? No, written material, artwork, and illustrations, submitted for publication must be the author’s original content and not produced using AI tools or technologies. You may read our full AI statement on our Terms of Use page.
